Avocado Fries
oil for frying
2 Avocados
2 Eggs, beaten
1 and 1/3 Cup Bread Crumbs
1 Teaspoon Lemon Pepper
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1 Teaspoon Lemon Pepper
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Cumin
Cilantro Lemon Dipping Sauce
5 Tablespoons Mayonnaise
3 Tablespoons Fresh Cilantro, chopped
Juice from 1/2 of Lemon
In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the bread crumbs, lemon pepper, salt and cumin. Set it aside. Cut the avocados in half and then slice them vertically into 4 inch by 1 inch wedges. Set them aside. Heat the vegetable oil to 335 degrees Fahrenheit in a large frying pan, adding enough oil so that the oil is about 3 to four inches deep. Dredge the avocado slices in the breadcrumb mixture, then in the egg mixture, then in the breadcrumb mixture again. Place them in the hot oil and fry them for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove them with a slotted spoon or tongs, and set them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb the excess oil. Allow them to dry for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a serving tray and serve them immediately with the Cilantro Lemon Dipping Sauce.
For the Cilantro Lemon Dipping Sauce, place the mayonnaise, cilantro, and lemon juice in a blender and mix until smooth and creamy in texture.

Past Food Adventures

A few weeks ago my friend, Syafiq, came to Denton to hang out with me and we went to a few places around town and The Square. This is a first food post and it happened several weeks ago so I won’t give you a complete in depth report of it, but you can at least see the yummy things we had!

We had hoped to go eat at this Thai restaurant called Andaman but they were closed for an hour and we were too hungry to wait around so we just went to Ramen Republic across the street. Syafiq had the Salmon Udon Pho and I had the King Curry with Udon noodles.

It was a good amount of food at a decent price. Syafiq and I both have Asian backgrounds and agreed that Ramen Republic was the white man’s Vietnamese Pho restaurant.

Next we stopped by Beth Marie’s on The Square. I was way too full to enjoy some ice cream but Syafiq got a Root Beer Float with Black Cherry ice cream.

Later that evening, we went to Dallas and met up with our friend Cassie and stopped by Twisted Root.

I had never been here, but the place was pretty cool. They have a different “In-house ground Game Meats” every few weeks or so. The week we went, they had kangaroo and buffalo. Syafiq got the kangaroo burger. I tasted a piece of it and I don’t think I could enjoy it as much because I felt more guilty than anything. It was good, I just probably couldn’t eat a whole burger of kangaroo without sobbing halfway through it. Cassie got a Banana-Bailey’s Adult shake, if I remember correctly. It was made with chocolate vodka and Bailey’s and it was really good!

This was a long first post but next time we’ll bring you with more reviews and better pictures and lots of details and less story telling!

I like to eat. So I like this blog.

We do, too! We’ll be talking about all the cool restaurants and bars we go to and food we have and things we cook when we all move into the new apartment together. Plus lots of pictures!
